Not creating views for handlers when webroot is subdirectory
10/15/09 12:04 AM

In my CB project, I have a "www" directory sitting below the project root that is the actual webroot. Due to this my handlers path is [project]/www/handlers and views are in [project]/www/views.

When I use the tool that generates handlers and opt to have it generate my views, it defaults to the path of [project]/views. If I leave that path alone, it is able to successfully generate the files, although I have to then move the directory to the actual views location. When I try to specify the correct path, it generates the handler without issue, but the views are not created.

If this should be submitted by some other means, please let me know.

~Dave

It seems like this might be a common thread with the way that I set up applications Luis. I tried to run the security interceptor generator just a moment ago. It doesn't actually give an option for the path to the /model directory, but fails with:

"Error occurred while copying the file from source C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\ColdBox Platform Utilities\templates\security/UserValidatorContent.txt to [path to my site]/model/UserValidator.cfc"

This is because my path is actually:

[path to my site]/www/model/UserValidator.cfc

I haven't actually looked at the code that is responsible for this, but I wonder if it might be possible to do a relative path to that directory from where the config directory is.

Oh, I meant to add my workaround... I simply created a "model" directory that was a peer to "www" and let it generate what it needed. I then moved it to "www/model".

Yea, please take a look if you can in the handlers directory that is where the generation happens. Need to try out your approach as the default generation approach is using the conventions.

I guess I need to alter my approach. Often in my web projects I will keep some folders above the root that I don't want available publicly. However, everything below the "www" folder is following the CB conventions. I simply have everything shifted down one level. I suppose I will just delete my project and recreate it at the "www" level so that I don't have further issues.
